Suomutunturi
Suomu – the Arctic Circle Ski resort – boasts some of the very best downhill slopes in Finland. If you have not yet sampled the black and red north facing slopes for experts nor the family friendly east facing long slopes through the pine forests, there still is room for you this season. This winter al the Finnish alpine racing team is practising on our slopes, so our maintenance crew will be grooming the area extra well. Come along to enjoy the best of Finnish skiing and pick up some tips from the competitors.

You can also enjoy the winter sunshine on our large deck while keeping your eye on the youngest family members practising their newly acquired skills on the nursery slopes in front of Suomu hotel.

Choose between hotel or cabin accommodation, both are available within easy reach of the slopes and trails for all activities. We advise you to consider which location is best for your activities. All accommodation is in wooded areas, but some prefer cross-country trails from the doorstep, others want to be handy to the slopes while the snowmobile trails could be your thing or a pet hate. There also is extensive path network for walkers or those enjoying kick sledges, available at the hotels.

Our network of trails and slopes offers you many activities, so you might want to consider which of your winter equipment you bring along. Cross-country skis or downhill skis, traditional style, skate skis or soft powder skis? Never mind, our ski rental shop can equip you with any gear, you maybe do not want to bring along.  On the other hand, maybe you will want to try something new. The ski school will be there to help as well.

Winter holidays in Suomu also offer adventures like husky, reindeer and snowmobile safaris, ice fishing, driving on lake ice road and visiting Kemijärvi, the most northern town in Finland.

Come find out how the snow crackles under your shoes and the Aurora Borealis dance across the Milky Way.
