Fishing and cruises

Lake Kemijärvi, rich with fish, and the other waterways of Suomu area offer a variety of fishing grounds for eager fishers. Finland’s longest river, Kemijoki opens to large spans of water forming Lake Kemijärvi, and as Suomu bay its eastern inlet reaches all the way to Räisälä village and beyond. You can fish pike, perch, whitefish, vendace, all native to the lake or trout and grayling which both are imported to the lake.

Please check the requirements for Finnish fishing licenses generally at http://www.ahven.net/english/index.php

The required local permits are available in our two local shops.
Lake Kemijärvi fishing permits for the Räisälä fishing area are sold at the Räisälä shop.

A daily visitors’ permit for casting is 3 € in 2009. Fishing permits vary according to the type of fishing you wish to practise. Please note that fishing on the lakeshore with fishing pole, hook and a worm does not require a licence. See above for the countrywide regulations for more detail.
