Kemijärvi town
The town of Kemijärvi is only 42 kilometres from Suomu along the main highway, 10km closer via Räisälä village and the ferry across Lake Kemijärvi. This shorter scenic route takes you partially along a small gravel road and is time wise as long as the main road route.
You travel via Räisälä village, ferry, Soppela village and join the main road at Isokylä village. The road twines up and down hills and around bays and crosses the same lake on several bridges.
The
ferry is free and open 6am to 10pm and runs on demand. You rarely need to wait more than few minutes.
