Winter activities

Suomu resort on the Arctic Circle is a great place to enjoy winters with snow and ice. You can sample the northern way of life with reindeer herding either as a culinary delicacy or as an afternoon outing. You can enjoy the continental dry climate with just enough  precipitation to give us plenty of snow to play in, but also clear skies with northern lights and stars in the dark days of midwinter and plenty of sunshine during the long light days of the spring skiing. The Arctic nature will surprise you here during all seasons. We welcome you to come and sample it all.

Springtime midday is for sun worshippers on our outdoor cafeteria patios, enjoy the sun & refreshments while checking out how the kids are learning or the experts are whizzing down the black runs

After ski life in Finland most often starts with a sauna and maybe a roll in the snow, if you are staying in a private cabin. All other evening activities are optional.

You can check out Finland’s most northern town Kemijärvi with shops, library, art exhibition and a spa type swimming pool just to mention few of its services.

Alternatively, you can just hang out in one of our after ski bars.
Restaurants serve traditional and novo cuisine type of Lappish dishes, try both.

You can cross country ski to the local shop in Räisälä village, or drive there by car and check out your ice driving skills by going on the ice road over the lake Kemijärvi.

What about a Lappish wedding, Räisälä village has a lovely small chapel. Moreover, you could have your wedding party transported from the church to the reception by a husky team or a reindeer sleigh.

Your imagination will be the limit for a family occasion to remember.

Suomu resort is still relatively small, so you can tailor make your holiday to be, as you like.
