Snowmobiles
Suomu resort is located in the so-called Forest Lapland and in the middle of a vast snowmobile network. The
trails will lead you
from one resort and village
to the next. On route, you traverse many wilderness areas accessible only by snowmobile and reindeer trails. This gives the snowmobiles a unique possibility to drive their own routes in peace, and only to be exposed to other user groups in the service centres.
If you are not a snowmobile owner, you can find an outfitter at Suomu to help you get started.
Maybe you are not as keen of an alpinist or cross-country enthusiast as others are in your party, then this year you might wish to
try something different on your holiday. So how about a snowmobile safari over the hills and faraway into the snowy forest?
Suomu outfitters provide beginner safaris lasting an hour or two and multiday trips to the experienced riders. Please check out our links for all of the rides available in our area.
We also have a snowmobile club organised by our regular visitors. It is called ‘Irtopäät’ (Loose heads). For more information about their activities please check at Kalle's Fischer Bar.
Our route maintenance team monitors and maintains regularly our routes leading to the following neighbouring areas:
Ruka-Kuusamo
Salla
Kemijärvi
Pyhä-Luosto
Kyösti Virkkula is in charge of Salla-Suomu-Käsmäjoki trail and
Markku Kallio looks after Käsmäjoki-Kemijärvi-Rovaniemi-Pyhä-Luosto trail.
Our team reminds everyone to drive cautiously and safely to secure lasting route conditions.
