Suomu Alpine Performance offers professional alpine athletes a comprehensive training environment that combines top-class coaching and goal-oriented training. Our pristine natural surroundings, reliable early-season snow and professional-grade facilities provide athletes with an ideal setting for competition preparations, building technique as well as recovering. First-class conditions and a peaceful environment make Suomu a favourite for ski clubs and national-level teams alike.
A comprehensive training environment
Suomutunturi has two slopes available for alpine ski training that can be reserved. In addition, our services include timing equipment rent and training gates (SL and GS). But performance doesn't end on the slope. At Suomutunturi, teams also benefit from a fully equipped, year-round available gym and comfortable spa facilities including a pool and a traditional Finnish sauna, ensuring efficient training and complete recovery after an intense day on snow.

Slope areas for training - Martti and FIS-slope
Martti, homologated for GS and SL. Martti is the resort's primary FIS-slalom and GS slope, regularly hosting international races - including events in the Norway-Finland Cup circuit - and Finnish championships. With slope widths ranging from 40 to 60 meters and with impressive vertical descend of 250-255 meters from top to bottom, Martti is perfectly suited for speed and technique refinement as well as GS and SL course setups. In March 2023, Martti slope hosted its first-ever Alpine Europa Cup women's slalom event, elevating Suomutunturi to international prominence and showcasing the slopes readiness as a world-class competition venue.
FIS slope, homologated for SL, tailored specifically for slalom training and competition. The FIS slope is highly dynamic training ground for technical excellence. The gradually steepening upper section of the slope is ideal for warming up edge control and testing rhythm variations. The slope flows into a steep section that challenges for quick transitions, edge pressure and accelerations. The long and flat runout makes the slope safe and functional for high-volume gate training.
Both slopes are fully equipped with LED lighting, which enables training even at dusk in the early morning or late at night. Regular comprehensive snowmaking and water-injection grooming ensures a high quality, consistent and Chanpionship-level snow surface throughout the winter season.

Suomutunturi regularly hosts alpine skiing competitions during the winter season, both at national and international (FIS) levels. During the winter season, the centre has hosted, among other events, the International Ski Federation's Grand Sliding competitions.
